Quebec has adopted her 20 years ago and since then, chef Helena Loureiro has been warming the heart of Montreal allowing us to experience the culture of her native country through its modern, creative and sunny cuisine, inspired both by her family and her various trips.

Some history

Helena finished studying at the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec in the early 90s. She then realizes her dream of having her own restaurant by opening Portus Calle in 1993 located in the heart of the Portuguese neighbourhood and becoming a veritable institution in the area. Willing to share her passion, she starts writing a cookbook, 100 recettes portugaises, hitting bookstores at the end of 2011.

Shortly after, she falls for the charm of Old Montreal and opens a second restaurant in 2012 on McGill Street simply named Helena.
